December 30, 2020 Helping in the garden
We help our grandfather with the work in his garden whenever we go to his island. We help him by watering the garden and pulling weeds. Our grandfather is always happy when we come help with the garden work. He has planted chili, watermelon, and pumpkin in the garden. When we are in the capital city of Male, our grandfather sends us food from his garden. Thank you, Grandpa!
I sometimes go to the beach with my family on Friday or Saturday. I play in the sand and swim and dig holes in the sand with my toy shovel. I play with a ball in the water. The artificial beach is for the people who live in Male. Some people go to the nearby island of Villingili to swim in the ocean there. Learning to swim is important for us, since we live on islands.
July 23, A Beautiful Day
Naming My Little Brother
My aunt passed away after giving birth, and my parents adopted the newborn baby. Today was the seventh day. Islam tells us to give a beautiful name to the baby on the seventh day. On this day, we shaved the baby's head and made a donation of the baby's weight in silver to our mosque. We then slaughtered a goat and distributed bodibai sweet rice to 40 people. My little brother received a name, and we all prayed for him. My mother said that she hoped he would grow up to be a sincere person. We shared the bodibai and the goat meat with our relatives, with our neighbors, and with poor people in the area. We gave the name to my little brother that my aunt had in mind, Aala. That name means a gift from Allah. I like the name.
I spend every Saturday evening at Hulhumale Beach with my family, playing and taking photos. Hulhumale Beach is rich in beautiful natural scenery.
Today is Eid, the end of Islam's Ramadan month of daytime fasting. I went with my family to take part in the Eid prayer ceremony. It was at a stadium. Lots of people came. I prayed with my grandparents, my parents, and my brother. My grandmother and mother went to the women's area. I was wearing new clothes.
Everyday I go to school at 12:50. I love my teachers. I like to learn new things. Tuesday is my favorite school day because we have art and PE. Art is my favorite subject.
Friday, July 11, Sunny
I went snorkeling for the first time today with my uncle. We went to a nearby reef and saw colorful fish and coral. Wow! It was beautiful. It was like nothing that I had ever seen. I had only seen stuff like that on television, but I finally got to see it firsthand.
My little sister and I went to spend the day at our grandmother's house. We had tea with Grandpa. Grandma's food was delicious.
Artificial beaches are not very common in other places in the world. But people in the Maldives go to artificial beaches to relax. In the evening, I go to an artificial beach with my grandfather to breath the fresh air.

This is our grandfathers house which is built out of dry coconut leaves. The house is surrounded by a lot of trees like coconut, breadfruit trees, banana trees etc. Near the house there's drinking - water well. At night we use a lantern to lighten up the house.
