I herded the cows to the river on a hot sunny day to water them. Larks flew in the sky, fish jumped in the river, and waterfowl floated on the water.
Before the horse race
Naadam is a traditional Mongolian festival that takes place every year in July. At Naadam, wrestlers compete on strength, horses compete on speed, and archers compete on accuracy. The most interesting event is a race for two-year-old colts. Small children aged five to seven ride the colts in that race. I have drawn the colts as they seem to be neighing for their mothers before the race.
I visit my grandparents during my summer vacation. I help them and take care of my health. I am boiling milk to make curd.
Visiting My Uncle's Place
I went to my uncle's place, in the Gobi Desert, for the summer vacation. My uncle and his family were moving to another pastureland. My father and I met them on their way and went with them to the new pastureland. My father is a policeman.
I went to my grandfather's house during the summer vacation. My grandfather has a lot of camels, horses, and cattle.
Father, mother, and son
My grandmother milks the cows every morning and every evening. I am afraid to get close to the calves. The calves are cute. But the shiny-black father-bull is scary. With his red eyes and protective gaze, he looks like he wants to poke me with his horns.
Summer vacation is the happiest and most fun time of year for Mongolian children. This picture is of breakfast during summer vacation.
Children play on wooden horses outside my tent. They're still too small to ride real horses. They also make little play tents with stones.
The summer that we spent in the country at my grandfather's was warm and rainy, and the natural scenery and animals and everything were like a fairy tale. My little brother had fun playing with my grandfather's white camel that was still a baby, and they took naps together sometimes.
This is my dream for the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar. I want to become an architect. I think that Ulaanbaatar will become like this in 2020.
I spent my summer vacation in my father's native Arkhangai aimag (a province in central Mongolia) with my parents. We helped my grandparents to make hay and milk the cows. We made many kinds of milk products and sold them.
The Fastest Of All
There are three major sports in Mongolia. Horse racing is called the fastest of all. The five fastest horses are known as the fastest among all others and are given prizes.
My mother took me to the kindergarten. It was snowing that day. I thought that the baby in my mother's womb must be as cold as I was.
