We made our first Barong Bakung masks by drawing faces on halved coconut shells with crayons. My sister performed the dance, but she is only five years old, and the mask was heavy for her. So she ended up sitting down to dance.

Kite flying
The children in my village take their kites out into the rice fields on holidays to fly.
They bring bebean fish-shaped kites, pecukan leaf-shaped kites, and lots of other kinds of kites. All the kids are happy. Kite flying is still a pastime for the people of Bali.

Playing in the Park with My Cat
My best friend is Maryam. We play in the park near my house with Meong, my dear cat, every day when we get home from school. We have been best friends since the third grade and are now in the sixth grade. We share lots of things, like my cat's cuteness, books, and activities at school. I hope this friendship will last forever.

Decorated penjor bamboo poles are part of our region's cultural heritage. They remind us that the Galungan festival day is approaching. And my friends and I have learned how to make them since we were little to preserve our heritage.

Camp
On National Scout Day, my friends and I went camping at Colo, near Mt. Muria. As soon as we arrived, we divided the tasks and started work. Some of us set up tents, and some gathered firewood. We completed our tasks happily. When the preparations were done, we took a break and then had a fish barbecue for dinner.

The farmhouse near my school
My school is close to a farmhouse. I like to observe farming. Every day, the farmer carries his vegetables, milk, and rice in a cart. When the farmer is not carrying things in the cart, he feeds and takes care of his cows.

Grasak
Some friends in our village formed a team to do Grasak dancing. That's like Jathilan dancing, which people do in Yogyakarta. The friends made their own costumes from leaves and seeds.

I got to go to Bali as my reward for becoming the champion of of my class. Bali is a beautiful island that is rich in art and culture, like dancing, religious ceremonies, sculpture, painting and souvenir making. Most of the buildings on Bali are of traditional architecture, and the island has a lot of beautiful scenery. I was very happy on Bali.

A girl comes by our house every morning selling sate meat on sticks. She wears an anklet. It rings when she walks. She carries the meat tray on top of her head. I buy meat from her a lot. It's really good. The girl cries out, "Sate, sate."

My mother and I had our picture taken. Snap, snap. A lizard is beside me in the photo. I laughed when I saw the picture.

The first week of my vacation
On Sunday morning I went to a church. Later, I went to the Gembira Loka Zoo. I saw many animals such as birds, elephants, tigers, fish and beautiful chickens.

During the holidays, I played kites. There were kites shaped like butterflies and masks. My kite was shaped like a fish and was very beautiful.

On holiday my father and my mother take me to Lombok island. The shape of ouses differ from houses in my city.
