This afternoon, my uncle came, so we went to a restaurant to eat lamb. We ate lamb, curry, and ramen for the main meal and had juice, snacks, and popcorn for dessert. The restaurant manager gave us two bottles of juice, which made me happy. The lamb was really delicious, and the curry was sweet. The ramen was really spicy, but I was able to eat it. I want to come eat here again.

I went bicycle riding with my mother and big brother along the Gwanpyeongcheon river. The weather was good, and I felt great.

I went to my grandmother's house to help make kimchi today. My grandmother mixed pickled cabbage with the other ingredients and put it in handfuls into a pot. She uses a pot that keeps the kimchi good for a long time. Her kimchi is great.

The people in Antarctica are cold and envy us Koreans for our warm weather, and we in Korea are hot and envy the people in Antarctica. I was hot and wanted to go to Antarctica. Don't you think that the people in Antarctica envy us? I like ice. Isn't Korea too hot?

Strange Clouds
I kept looking up at the sky during our Pleasant Life class. One cloud looked like a farm field. Another looked like a sundial. Cumulus clouds, cirrocumulus clouds, needle-shaped clouds, and cirrus clouds appeared together and made the sky look like a big work of art.

The miracle in Chile
Today, we heard the happy news that the 33 miners who were trapped in the San Hose coal mine had been rescued. We saw people who had discovered hope and a miracle in the hopeless darkness of a coal mine. We shared the joy of the Chilean people who cheered when the miners emerged from the mine.

Visiting Ancestral Graves on Chuseok
We couldn't go to my grandmother's house in Pyeongchang on the Chuseok holiday for honoring ancestors because of heavy traffic. So our family and some relatives when to my grandfather's grave instead. I said, "Grandfather, Ji Won has come to visit you. I miss you."

September 5, 2006: My family
Our family is my father, mother, and me. My friends say "You should be bored being the only child" and "You should be happy not getting teased by a sister or brother." But I have Mom and Dad. I love you, Mom and Dad!

Taekwondo
We had an examination for promotion today at the taekwondo hall. I smashed two tiles. It hurt a lot, but I could bear the pain because I am a taekwondo man. I was really nervous today, but I had fun.

I went down to the breakwater in Daebudo Bay. I crossed the bridge that stands in the seawater. When I moved rocks away on the beach, crabs of all different sizes dug into the mud. I played for a long time and dug a lot of shellfish out of the mud. But when I was done, I let them all go. It was a good day. When I got home, I ate a lot of noodles with clams.

Making Christmas wreaths.
Tomorrow is Christmas so I made a pretty wreath with my mother to put on the Christmas tree. First, we put aluminium foil on a dry sponge and wrapped it with a crossed ribbon. Then we decorated it with colourful paper and the very beautiful wreath was completed.

Sunday, May 7, 1995 Cloudy Buddha's birthday
Today is Buddha's birthday. Buddha said all of us could be Buddha if they opened their minds. The lanterns on Buddha's birthday (April 8 of the lunar calender) were beautiful but the words of Buddha touched me most.

<Making of Rice-cakes> - Tuesday, Oct.2, 1990, Sunny -
Tomorrow is the Lantern Festival day. My family all together made rice-cakes. My mother saw the rice-cakes I made and told me that it was well done. I was very glad. They were delicious. I like rice-cakes with honey more than the ones with beans so I chose the ones with honey to eat.
